I love this ridiculous decision to point out that they’ve shared cake with constituents. What possible difference will it make? I can’t imagine anyone saying, “Well, I was going to vote Labour but that nice Tory candidate did give me a slice of cake once…” I bet the Lib Dem candidate there is already frantically sending out custard slices to shore up his narrow majority.

Not sure how it will play, as I have no detailed knowledge of the demographics of the constituency. I suppose it could make some people feel more like they know the couple and increase the feeling that they’re part of the community. On the other hand, it looks quite a posh, expensive do.

More interestingly, now he has deliberately put his marriage into the public domain, does that open up his personal life for legitimate attack? (I ask this as a genuine question, not because I think we should go down this route.)
