Goodman + Gove = Godwin?
Paul Goodman at ConHome loves Gove, and not just for his policies:
The news [return of 'O' levels etc.] will do nothing to dampen the leadership talk that he laughs off and the Blob Rage that he swerves round: earlier this year, this meticulously polite figure was denounced at the NUT conference as “an evil entity” bent on “demolishing state schools” who is surrounded by “cronies” and pursuing “fetishes” while “terrorising teachers” and empowering “vultures”.
So it’s all ok because he’s polite?
I tempted to say there’s something faintly Arendtian about that, but that would be a Godwin’s law moment, so I will restrain myself….
